Nia joined Meals on Wheels Durham during the summer of 2021, bringing her expertise as a communications and events professional who strongly believes in the power of storytelling as the foundation for impactful communication campaigns and experiences. Graduating with top honors, summa cum laude, from The University of Alabama in 2015, she swiftly earned her Master's degree shortly after. Nia kick-started her career by working in the athletic communications department at Appalachian State University and her alma mater, The University of Alabama. Subsequently, she transitioned to the realm of higher education, dedicating over two years as the Assistant Director of Communications and Events at Birmingham-Southern College.
Nia's journey extends beyond her professional accomplishments. During her time at Alabama, she was not only a dedicated student but also a Division I student-athlete, representing the Crimson Tide Track and Field Team from 2012 to 2015. Nia specialized in the weight, hammer, and javelin throw, and her exceptional achievements earned her the distinction of being a two-time Capital One Academic All-American.
